This 3-hour workshop invites participants to imagine and create an original, expressive, and instantly recognizable character, from its overall silhouette to the details that reveal its personality. Led by Louise Monnard (https://www.instagram.com/lousytha/), a professional illustrator and graduate of HEAD Geneva in visual communication and illustration, and an instructor at Artiloft, this workshop explores the fundamentals of character design while giving ample room for creativity and personal expression. Participants will discover the essential proportions of the human body and learn to construct a strong, clear, and recognizable silhouette. Starting with simple poses, primarily standing, they will explore different variations of arms and hands, then enrich their character through shapes, clothing, accessories, and expressions to give it a unique identity. Special attention will also be paid to color: participants will work with alcohol markers, using flat colors, and learn to create a harmonious gradient palette to enhance their character's visual style. This workshop is open to young people aged 11 and up, teenagers, and adults interested in the world of manga and illustration. No prior experience is required: beginners and those with prior drawing experience are welcome. This masterclass is part of a new series of manga workshops led by Louise Monnard, offering different themes related to illustration and comics throughout the year.
