We invite you to a two-day intensive workshop with Marine Porte de Sainte-Marie, a French visual artist and calligrapher, which will take place at Artiloft Montreux. About the artist A professional calligrapher since 1999, Marine Porte de Sainte-Marie (https://www.instagram.com/marinepsm/) trained with renowned French and international calligraphers, as well as at the Scriptorium in Toulouse. Passionate about sharing her knowledge, she leads workshops in France and abroad, with an approach that is demanding, sensitive, and contemporary. Her personal work, inspired by the nature surrounding her in her Savoie studio, gives significant importance to plants, color, and personal expression. A breath of fresh air! English script… a pointed pen, black ink, light and airy thick and thin strokes… During these two days of immersion, you will discover the historical foundations of this elegant and refined script. The first day will be devoted to lowercase letters, while the second day will explore uppercase letters, arabesques, and composition. You will learn to understand letter formation, to work on the rhythm of the stroke, and to create arabesques—one of the great mysteries of calligraphy. At the end of the workshop, each participant will create a short text on fine paper, with particular attention to composition. This workshop is ideal for discovering English script or perfecting it through a technical, sensitive, and creative approach. Dates - August 29th and 30th, Saturday and Sunday Schedule - 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (6 hours per day, 12 hours total) Location - Artiloft, Avenue des Alpes 104, 1820 Montreux Participation Requirements Option 1 – With your own materials Price - CHF 320 Participants bring their own materials. A complete list of required materials can be requested by email at info@artiloft.ch. Option 2 – With materials provided Price - CHF 380 All necessary materials will be provided during the workshop. You will also receive a Brause Calligraphy Kit and a special ruler, which you will use during the workshop and can keep afterward. Languages - French Admission - All artists are welcome. Children aged 13 and over. It is not possible to participate for just one day.
