Discover the world of traditional calligraphy through Uncial script, a timeless script dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries. Composed entirely of capital letters, it provides an excellent introduction to calligraphy and allows you to achieve beautiful first results, even without prior experience. During this 4-hour workshop, you will discover the main tools and materials of calligraphy and learn to work with a broad-nib pen and ink. Regula will guide you in learning the Uncial alphabet and its characteristic forms. Once you have mastered the basics, it's time to get creative: you can experiment with colors, different tools, and freer techniques to discover how a traditional script can be interpreted in a modern and personal way. No prior experience is necessary. Those who have already practiced calligraphy are also welcome. About the artist Regula Monnet has been practicing calligraphy since 1996 and teaching it for over 20 years. For many years, she was a member of the committee of the Swiss Calligraphy Society (SKG), where she also served as co-president for four years. Trained by various calligraphy artists in Switzerland and abroad, she is proficient in both classical calligraphy and hand lettering, as well as experimental approaches. She also undertakes commissioned work and has collaborated with the Beyeler Foundation for many years; she has also worked for the Hauser & Wirth Gallery in Zurich. For 20 years, she also collaborated with Caran d’Ache at trade fairs and workshops, developing in-depth knowledge of materials and artistic techniques. In her teaching, Regula prioritizes an accessible and creative approach, allowing everyone to experiment and leave with their own creations.
