We invite you to an intensive 2-day workshop with renowned watercolourist Julia Barminova. This workshop is for anyone who wants to learn how to paint the sea in watercolour or improve their skills in seascapes. Programme: Day 1: Painting the sea surface We will explore techniques for representing the sea surface, creating reflections, ripples and play of light. You will learn how to balance colours and convey depth and movement in calm water. Day 2: Depicting dynamic waves and landscapes We will tackle the challenge of powerful waves. You will discover how to capture the power of waves, from the texture of foam to splashes, combining bold strokes and delicate details to represent turbulent water. At the end of this workshop, you will benefit from: - Mastery of watercolour painting in the studio and outdoors; - Understanding the qualities of watercolor to capture the different states of water; - Confidence in your creative abilities to realize your artistic visions in seascapes. DATES: May 3 and 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00, 12 hours in total (with a 1-hour break in the middle) LOCATION: Artiloft Zurich (Craft Factory, top floor) Albulastrasse 24 8048 Zurich PRICE: CHF 420 per participant LANGUAGE: English MATERIALS: This workshop is sponsored by Royal Talens and we are happy to provide all the Rembrandt and Van Gogh colors used by the instructor. Please bring your usual watercolor kit and a plastic palette. PAPER: For Julia's watercolor technique, the best paper is Arches Grain Fin 300gr. The size is about 30*40, 38*56cm, half of a standard sheet. BRUSHES: Smaller round synthetic brushes with sharp tip - size 4-6mm; Soft flat brush (pony, goat or synthetic for watercolor) - size 20-30mm; Angled brush - size 10mm. OTHER: Masking type, eraser, 2B pencil Please note that online registration here is mandatory due to the limited number of places. It is not possible to book a single day.
