Service Description

Come discover Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of floating ink, considered the ancestor of various paper marbling traditions. After an introduction to the history and legends surrounding this practice, Bastien will present the technical principles of Suminagashi through a demonstration. Each participant will then have their own tray to experiment and create at their own pace. Using India ink and special brushes, you will delicately apply the ink to the surface of the water and observe the patterns forming as the ink moves. These unique compositions will then be transferred onto paper to create your own artwork. Throughout the workshop, Bastien will share exercises, tips, and personalized advice tailored to each participant's pace and preferences. Beyond discovering a rare artistic technique, Suminagashi invites you to slow down, observe, and embrace creativity. It's a playful, graphic, and calming experience, accessible without any prior artistic experience. About Bastien Conus The founder of suminagashi.ch, Bastien Conus is a native of the Lake Geneva region and the "cyber-grandson" of Tadao Fukuda, a graphic artist and cultural mediator in Lausanne.
