Service Description
Treat yourself to a day of plein air painting in an inspiring natural setting in Zurich. This workshop is suitable for all levels: it's perfect for beginners eager to discover the art of plein air painting, as well as more experienced artists looking to refine their vision and technique. The workshop will take place in a green space in or around Zurich, with a wide variety of subjects to explore: vegetation, architecture, lakes, mountains, and luminous landscapes—all ideal motifs for observation and creation. The day will begin with an introductory demonstration on plein air painting equipment and its preparation, followed by a step-by-step explanation of how to approach and develop a painting outdoors. Throughout the workshop, we will cover the fundamentals of plein air painting: choosing a subject, composition, color palette, creating depth, and how to translate light, atmosphere, and space into a painting. Each participant will then choose their own subject and work at their own pace, with personalized guidance. The goal will be to complete one painting in the morning and a second in the afternoon, while developing a freer, more sensitive, and more confident approach to painting from life. Of Swiss-British origin, Peter Stalder lives in the Lake Geneva region, a major source of inspiration for his work. Trained in oil painting in London, he passionately practices drawing, portraiture, and plein air painting. His work has been exhibited in French-speaking Switzerland, neighboring France, and London.
