Service Description

Treat yourself to a day of plein air painting in an inspiring natural setting in Zurich. This workshop is suitable for all levels: from beginners eager to discover the art of plein air painting to more experienced artists looking to refine their vision and technique. The workshop will take place in a charming lakeside park in Küsnacht, just a 7-minute walk from the train station. Participants will be able to paint boats, reflections, vegetation, and luminous landscapes in a typically Swiss atmosphere. Parking is also available nearby. The day will begin with an introductory demonstration focusing on plein air painting materials and their preparation, followed by a step-by-step explanation of how to approach and develop a painting outdoors. Throughout the workshop, we will cover the fundamentals of plein air painting: choosing a subject, composition, color palette, creating depth, and how to translate light, atmosphere, and space into a painting. Each participant will then choose their own subject and work at their own pace, with personalized guidance. The goal will be to complete one painting in the morning and a second in the afternoon, while developing a freer, more sensitive, and more confident approach to painting from life. Of Swiss-British origin, Peter Stalder lives in the Lake Geneva region, a major source of inspiration for his work. Trained in oil painting in London, he passionately practices drawing, portraiture, and plein air painting. His work has been exhibited in French-speaking Switzerland, neighboring France, and London. Materials The workshop is open to participants working in oil or acrylic. If you do not have a portable easel, one can be provided. Other supplies must be brought by each participant; a detailed list will be sent before the workshop.
